Oh my goodness I am so excited to share this blog post! Steph and Jay were married on June 5th, and as a photographer, I am always overly excited for each of my couples, but – Steph and Jay have a very special place in my heart as I have been there since the very start of their relationship. Jay and I go wayyyyy back (further than either of us probably likes to admit! haha), and capturing their day was so incredibly special for me!
Like so many other couples, Steph and Jay were forced to make many changes to their wedding due to the pandemic – the date, the location, the number of guests, the number of people in the bridal party (though – selfishly I was a bit relieved to not have to photograph the football team sized bridal party that was originally planned!) – but the one thing that remained the same was the determination they had to make this work! In the end, they were married in Steph’s parents backyard under a beautiful handmade arch and surrounded by their closest family and friends.
When I arrived, Steph’s gown was hanging in a back bedroom and it did not disappoint with a gorgeous train. I can tell you I was giddy to photograph it! Long, intricate trains are my jam, I mean, just scroll down and take a look for yourself! After finishing hair and makeup, Steph was able to get dressed and capture some beautiful moments with her bridal party and mother – not to mention the tear jerking moment when Jay’s ex wife arrived with a letter for Steph, don’t worry! Jay got one later as well! These three are the epitome of what amazing co-parenting should be!
Prior to the ceremony, Steph had a first look with her Dad – and let me tell you, this was the best father/daughter first look I think I have ever captured! Not only was dad overcome with emotions and tears, he then proceeded to turn around and thank his wife for giving him Steph. Awwww!
Walking down the isle with her father to Speechless by Dan and Shay, there were few dry eyes to be seen. Steph was a gorgeous bride, and Jay was as handsome as ever! Following the ceremony and portraits, there was an eventful reception entrance including space jam and confetti poppers! Rounding out the evening with some very heartfelt speeches (way to go especially to Jay’s brother, Bobby!) – what better way to end the scheduled festivities than a good old fashioned cake smash?! Make sure to scroll down for the evidence!
There were so many moments at this wedding that I loved, it was so hard to pick out just a handful of images to share! So please excuse the long blog, and know that there were so many amazing family portraits and reception images that I would have also loved to have shared – but at some point this post needed to end! haha
Steph and Jay – I am so honored I was there to capture your gorgeous day! I wish you both so much love and happiness and can not wait to capture your next chapter in life! <3 <3
